To be a good fit for the Applications Engineer opportunity, you will have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial)
  • 5-15 years of experience in engineering; display design experience is preferred
  • At least 2 years of experience working as an Applications Engineer  Quick question for you - click here
  • Proven ability to work with and influence customers
  • Manufacturing, electronics industry exposure
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint)  Quick question for you - click here
  • Schedule flexibility to take international calls before and after standard business hours and meet other demands
  • Ability to travel, including international travel, up to 10%
  • Previous experience is a small company, multi-hat environment preferred

As Applications Engineer, your primary mission will be to create the best performing custom display solutions for our customers. You will support a broad range of customers in the U.S. and Asia, leveraging your strong technical and influencing skills to listen to and decipher what the customer needs, then influence the design and manufacture of the ideal solution. It will be essential to ask good questions to fully ascertain the best solution for each individual application. In addition to your primary customer responsibilities, as you move through each project, you will work with Sales, Design Engineers, Manufacturing, including factories in Taiwan and Asia, and others.

Specifically, you will:
  • Create unique and custom display solutions providing the customer with the best performance
  • Identify customer requirements and provide engineering design support
  • Help to secure design wins
  • Develop and maintain technical customer relationships
  • Assist the sales team
  • Support and help address any manufacturing or quality issues
  • Assist with the development and growth of our company and our engineering resources
  • Write and publish application notes and technical papers
  • Provide input for product planning, new product features and process improvements
  • Provide technical training and support to our team and marketing efforts
  • Document and maintain a network of support infrastructure, including, but not limited to test labs, Interface board manufacturers, wire harness manufacturers, 3D printing houses and consultants
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously
You'll know you're hitting the mark when the team, in combination with your strong support, is meeting design win targets in both the number of business opportunities and increased revenue. Additional yearly KPIs used to measure success will include the number of:
  • Application notes or articles submitted
  • Successful internal team and customer training sessions provided
  • Professional technical organization meetings attended, such as SID
